History

In 2004, on a snowy night in Kent, Ohio, two workers from Kent State made their way down to BW3s on Franklin Street. Little did they know they were also making their way towards history. That night, after large quantities of Great Lakes Christmas Ale, they decided to venture to other bars on Franklin where other KSU workers were gathered enjoying a quiet evening of spirits and food.Upon discovering these other coworkers (and more Christmas Ale), the two began spreading the holiday joy and demonstrating exactly how much holiday joy they had consumed. The next day, during one of the worst recorded hangovers in history of mankind, and trying to piece together the previous evening (and damaged clothing) it was decided that this needed to become a tradition.

In 2005 it was officially recognized as an annual event.More people gathered at BW3s, the traditional starting point of Christmas Ale Night. This year the number grew to about 12 people and spanned beyond just Kent State employees. The evening turned into the joyous melee only Christmas Ale can produce.Although, some people were escorted from the second bar, the party moved on to several bars along Franklin Street.

Now in its fifth year, it has become a Kent winter tradition and sort of an *Unofficial* Christmas party for those who come out.Feel free to join us this year to celebrate the holidays and close out 2008.Hope to see you there!

Drinking for Charity

Once again, the Christmas Ale Executive Board is going to be doing a pledge drive. For every beer drank, we are going to be donating $5.00 to The Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF).The SOWF benefits the children of Special Operations military personal killed in action. You don't have to do 5 per beer, you can do any amount you want or just donate a flat rate.See Greg or Ben if you are interested in helping out.Again, this is completely optional.

More information about the SOWF can be found at http://www.specialops.org/

The sacrifice of those men and women allow us the freedom to do things like have Christmas Ale Night.Let's not forget the families of them during this Holiday season.

Disclaimer

Christmas Ale Night is by NO means an official Kent State University or Information Services of Kent State University event. The Christmas Ale Night Executive Board also does not and will not take responsibility for any damages done to any person or property during the evening. Personal damage does include any event where said person can impact their reputation. There will be coworkers around who *may* remember things you say or do them. The only suggestion we make is to get them to consume enough Christmas Ale where they do not recall any events (right away.)The use of cameras are not prohibited, but rather encouraged. They have been used in the past to help piece together the events of the evening. They can also be used for blackmail.(And for the record I don't want to hear any bitching this year if you pick up someone's camera and make an ass out of yourself and the guy sitting next you!)
